Railway Empire, a new railroad simulation game from Kalypso Media, launches one week today on January 26th. The game lets would-be tycoons cover some 100 years of railroad development in North America, starting in 1830. Railway Empire will be available for Xbox One, Sony PlayStation4, and Windows PC.

The new simulation game has players attempt to build up rail operations by acquiring train sets, owning stations, and managing employees, all while moving thru five distinct eras of steam innovation. Railway Empire offers over 40 historical locomotive engines for use, and when laying tracks for those engines, players can do so in either “simple” or “complex” game mode. The latter setting involves the placing of switches and signals. Here is one trailer for Railway Empire:
