Following a successful inaugural season in 2017, Amtrak’s Winter Park Express train will expand its service for the coming 2018 ski season. Running a return service between Denver, Colorado’s Union Station and Winter Park Resort, the Winter Park Express can accommodate more than 500 riders seeking the slopes of the resort 67 miles west of Denver.
Three “First Friday” round-trip schedules have been added to the Saturday and Sunday weekend service. Beginning Friday, January 5th, the Express will also add the Fridays of February 2nd and March 2nd. The train departs from Union Station at 7am, with a Winter Park arrival time of 9am. The return to Denver leaves at 4:30pm and arrives at the Mile High City at 6:40pm. The final run of the 2018 season will be Sunday, March 25th. Travelling thru the historic Moffat Tunnel, which opened in 1928 to cut beneath the Continental Divide, the Winter Park Express shares this route with the daily Amtrak California Zephyr, which operates daily between Chicago and San Francisco.
