TIMELESS – JESSE JAMES & BASS REEVES IN NEW EPISODE

The characters of Timeless, the new science fiction NBC series, journey back to the era of Jesse James in tonight’s episode (January 23rd). Debuting in October 2016, the show follows history professor Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer), scientist Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett), and soldier Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter) as they try to stop Garcia Flynn (Goran Višnjić), a time-travelling fugitive, from changing American history at various key points.

In the series’ return after a winter break, Preston, Carlin and Logan seek the help of real-life African-American lawman Bass Reeves (1838-1910) in tracking Flynn, who has joined up with the Missouri outlaw Jesse James (1847-1882). In the episode, Daniel Lissing plays James and Colman Domingo is the famous U.S. Marshal Reeves, a former slave credited with over 3000 arrests.

In history, James was assassinated by fellow gang member, Robert Ford, and interestingly, tonight’s installment is entitled “The Murder of Jesse James”. Will Flynn seek to alter US history by preventing that killing? Will he bestow a technological advantage upon James for his robberies? Here is a TV promo for the 12th episode:

One interesting aspect of Timeless is that, as demonstrated in earlier episodes, some facets of recorded history do get changed by the main characters’ interactions with the past. Specific consequences to their personal time-line are also experienced when returning to the present.

Further information about the series can be found at the official site Timeless. The show, filmed in British Columbia, airs Mondays at 10E/9C.
