Trains magazine has announced a new special issue focusing on the continental railroad hub of Chicago. Chicago, America’s Railroad Capital is a 100-page issue that examines the Windy City as a key center for rail traffic, from international to local. The issue will be available January 10th, 2017.
A companion DVD (with the same title) is also being released. The 60-minute video includes history and updated footage and information about passenger trains, freight lines, commuter trains, and stations in the Chicago hub. As promo information for the DVD relays, more rail traffic travels thru Chicago than any other US city. When making Amtrak connections from the Midwest to the West, this writer is a frequent visitor to Chicago’s Union Station, a busy and lively spot. Here is a promo video for the DVD:
