Netflix subscribers in the United States and Canada can now watch Season 1 of The Pinkertons on that streaming service.
The Western crime series premiered October 2014 in the US, and draws from the real case files of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. Created in 1850 by Scottish emigrant, Allan Pinkerton (1819-1884), the Chicago-based enterprise gave the world the term, “private eye”, with its single-eye logo. It is also famous for employing the first female detective in America, Kate Warne (1833-1868). Allan’s son, William (1846-1923), would take over the agency upon his father’s death.
In the series The Pinkertons, Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen stars as Allan Pinkerton, Jacob Blair is William Pinkerton, and Martha MacIssac plays Kate Warne.
