The annual Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale is set to return to Denver, Colorado, this January. Located at the National Western Stock Show Complex, the public art exhibition and sale, now in its 22nd year, will run from January 10th to 25th in tandem with the annual stock show. The National Western Stock Show itself has been held since 1906.
The show, situated on the 3rd Floor of the Expo Hall, features such mediums as painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking from over 80 artists, with a contemporary focus on Western art. Prior to the public show on the 10th, the show will be preceded by a number of important events. A Lunch & Lecture on “The State of Native American Art in the West”, will be hosted by the Denver Art Museum from 11am to 1 pm on Tuesday the 6th. That evening, a ticketed Red Carpet Reception for the show takes place at the National Western Complex Expo Hall. On Wednesday the 7th, a symposium discussing “Western Character: Expressions of Identity and Place in Portraiture” takes place at the Denver Art Museum from 10am to 5pm.
Southwest Art Magazine is the official media sponsor for the show and further information about the exhibit, sale, and events can be found at the official link Coors Western Art.
Finally, westernsreboot.com will be in Denver, Colorado, the first week of January (travelling there by train, of course!) and will be posting updates via Twitter @westernsreboot along the way. This writer wishes everyone a happy and safe start to 2015!
