The American Museum of Western Art – The Anschutz Collection, located in Denver, Colorado, has recently released a new volume of American Western art entitled Painters and the American West – Volume II (2013).
Founded in 2010, the American Museum of Western Art was created to house and publicly display paintings and works that present the American West. The artwork ranges in years from the early 19th century to the contemporary era. This writer had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the museum in January of this year and the breadth of work is astounding – history radiates from the walls.
Painters and the American West – Volume II is both a companion and sequel to the Museum’s book, Painters and the American West: The Anshutz Collection (2000). The 2013 book includes images of recent acquisitions that include the work of William Herbert “Buck” Dunton and N.C. Wyeth.
